St. Joseph Young Adult Ministry (SjYAM) is a collection of young adult (18-35) who meet every other Wednesday to have fun, fellowship, and to learn more about their Catholic Faith.
Our goal is to connect young adults, with Jesus Christ, with the Church, with the mission of the the Church in the world and with a peer community.

- Invite young people to be involved in committees, councils and working groups ... eg. Liturgy Committee, Parish Pastoral Council, Pastoral Planning Groups
- Invite young people and young adults to participate in various ministries in the parish ... personally invite young people to share their special gifts and talents ... support them and help them develop their talents through training and networking with other parishioners.
- Allow young people to meet together after Mass at the Parish. Provide tea and coffee facilities, etc.
- Send young adults and young people along to workshops or training opportunities that arise from time to time.
- Advertise regional activities such as Youth Rallies, Retreats, Camps and Conferences and encourage young people to attend.
- Host a parish picnic or bbq for young people and young adults ... have sporting gear, music, food etc.
- Send out a letter to young people who are away at university ... encouraging them and supporting them in their studies.
- Pray for young people during Masses, include their needs in Prayers of the Faithful, promote positive stories of young people during the homily.
- Treat young people as a great resource for the church ... don't look at them as a problem to be solved.
- Encourage inter-parish communications and promote activities of neighbouring parishes if your parish has little to offer ... always now who you can refer young people to if they are seeking involvement!
